In Vitro
Sam and Lily fall in love. They build a life together. Then they decide to start a family.
‘In Vitro’ explores the influence of class and power on parenthood as a same-sex couple.
By examining the thorny relationship between fertility and finances, this play written by Aoife O’Connor and directed by Katie O’Halloran asks urgent questions about capitalism and queerness in Ireland.
In Vitro had an eight-show run in the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in 2024. A longer version is currently in development for production in the upcoming year.
Pawn
Pawn centres Ophelia, reimagined as an eco-influencer and Head of Charities for the Danish Monarchy. Her every post and comment is managed claustrophobically by her father Polonius, Court Marshal of the Royal Household and King Claudius’ snivelling right hand man.
The King has no heir to protect his legacy and leaving the throne to his despised nephew Hamlet is inconceivable, providing Polonius with a tantalising opportunity to increase his standing in the monarchy.
All that’s required is to use his daughter as the ultimate pawn.
Who is Ophelia in the modern world, and more importantly, is she any better off than Shakespeare’s Ophelia four centuries ago?
Pawn was shortlisted for the Druid Debut Scripts 2024. A rehearsed reading of Pawn was supported by Axis theatre in 2025. It is currently in development.
